Friday Five 12-2-2016

12.02.2016 by Tana Henry //

Christmas Tree
Emmy enjoying our Christmas tree.

After about a month without posting my favorites, this is the twentieth installment in my weekly series, called the Friday Five. In this series, I’ll tell you about five random things that I love, whether they be books, travel, music, movies…or whatever. So without further ado, 12-2-2016’s Friday Five!

1–These awesome scuba sneakers! I really want these Converse sneakers with scuba divers on the side. I just haven’t pulled the trigger on ordering them yet.  I’m a size 10 women’s if someone wanted to order them for me…JK! 😉

2–Syria’s tourism marketing. Okay, so I don’t love Syria’s tourism marketing, but I kind of love to hate on it. Considering all of the horrible things happening in that country, just gross.

3–Anne Rice. Atlas Obscura posted this interview with Anne Rice. It’s really interesting.

4–Modern Mrs. Darcy’s Stocking Stuffer List for Book Lovers. I love pretty much everything on this list, and would be ecstatic if any of it showed up in my stocking. Maybe you can find something for the book lover in your life on this list.

5–The National Music Museum. I went to school at The University of South Dakota, and spent my fair share of time wandering through the exhibits and drooling over the amazing instruments (I’m also a cellist for those that don’t know). After visiting music museums in other places (including the Smithsonian and in Paris), I have to say that this collection truly is world-class. If you ever get the chance to stop, I’d definitely encourage you to do so. The Amati “King” cello is probably the most beautiful instrument I’ve ever seen in my life.

Friday Five 8-12-2016

No One Remembers SleepThis is the fourteenth installment in my weekly series, called the Friday Five. In this series, I’ll tell you about five random things that I love, whether they be books, travel, music, movies…or whatever. So without further ado, 8-12-2016’s Friday Five!

1–Cool dive sites. Atlas Obscura, which I read regularly, has this great post, with fantastic pictures, about sunken ruins and shipwrecks, and plane wrecks, and all sorts of cool placed that I now want to dive.

2–The Olympics. I am an Olympic junky…really and truly. We cancelled cable, but NBC has an excellent app for Amazon Fire Stick, so I can still watch all kinds of events. And as an added bonus, I can pick and choose what events to watch based on the type of sport, and then see all of the full events or just highlights. Sweet!

3–Harry Potter. I’m finishing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and am loving it. I found this list of 6 real-world Harry Potter locations. Definitely adding them to my bucket list.

4–Google/Quantum Computing. I don’t profess to completely understand this stuff (or understand really any of it). But I think it’s cool nonetheless. Google simulated a hydrogen molecule using quantum computing. You can read about it here.

5–Vermillion, SD and USD. Last weekend I went back to Vermillion, South Dakota to see some of my college and sorority sisters. We had tons of laughs, more than a few tears, and very little sleep. But it was great, and much-needed. I went to college and law school at The University of South Dakota (USD), and honestly feel like a piece of my heart will always be there. Such great memories!

My name is Tana, and I am an attorney in South-Central Nebraska. I'm married to a great guy, named Mike, and have a dog named Emmy and a cat named Scout. I read as much as possible, and travel any chance I get. Luggage and Literature chronicles both. I hope you enjoy looking around! Please leave me a comment and tell me what you think.
