Friday Five 2-23-2018

02.23.2018 by Tana Henry //

Peloton
Me with my new Peloton bike the night it was delivered

This is the thirty-fifth installment in my sorta weekly series, called the Friday Five. In this series, I’ll tell you about five random things that I love, whether they be books, travel, music, movies…or whatever. So without further ado, 2-23-2018’s Friday Five!

1–Peloton. OMG guys! I think I joined a cult. After several months of deliberation (and negotiation with Mike) I purchased a Peloton cycling bike. And I really, truly love it! Which is saying quite a lot, since I hate exercise. But this is actually quite fun, with different instructors, and the ability to compete against other riders in the leaderboard. I’m four weeks in now, and not losing any enthusiasm. If you’re thinking about purchasing a Peloton bike, use my referral code: WH9XBC

2–Amor Towles. I love both of the books that he’s written and published, A Gentleman in Moscow and Rules of Civility. Amor Towles was interviewed for this podcast, and his remarks were really thought-provoking. You should check it out here.

3–Howard Godnick. I “met” Howard online through the Peloton community, and found out through others that he had done a TEDx talk. I had to check it out, and am glad that I did. You can watch it here. Inspirational.

4–Chase Hasty. This kid is from the town that we live in. We’ve seen him perform several times over the years, and he’s quite the magician. You can check out this video of him from Jimmy Kimmel Live!

5–Olympics. I’m obsessed with watching the Olympics. I watch everything…everything. It might be a problem, but at least it’s a short-term problem.

Friday Five 8-12-2016

08.12.2016 by Tana Henry //

No One Remembers SleepThis is the fourteenth installment in my weekly series, called the Friday Five. In this series, I’ll tell you about five random things that I love, whether they be books, travel, music, movies…or whatever. So without further ado, 8-12-2016’s Friday Five!

1–Cool dive sites. Atlas Obscura, which I read regularly, has this great post, with fantastic pictures, about sunken ruins and shipwrecks, and plane wrecks, and all sorts of cool placed that I now want to dive.

2–The Olympics. I am an Olympic junky…really and truly. We cancelled cable, but NBC has an excellent app for Amazon Fire Stick, so I can still watch all kinds of events. And as an added bonus, I can pick and choose what events to watch based on the type of sport, and then see all of the full events or just highlights. Sweet!

3–Harry Potter. I’m finishing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and am loving it. I found this list of 6 real-world Harry Potter locations. Definitely adding them to my bucket list.

4–Google/Quantum Computing. I don’t profess to completely understand this stuff (or understand really any of it). But I think it’s cool nonetheless. Google simulated a hydrogen molecule using quantum computing. You can read about it here.

5–Vermillion, SD and USD. Last weekend I went back to Vermillion, South Dakota to see some of my college and sorority sisters. We had tons of laughs, more than a few tears, and very little sleep. But it was great, and much-needed. I went to college and law school at The University of South Dakota (USD), and honestly feel like a piece of my heart will always be there. Such great memories!

My name is Tana, and I am an attorney in South-Central Nebraska. I'm married to a great guy, named Mike, and have a dog named Emmy and a cat named Scout. I read as much as possible, and travel any chance I get. Luggage and Literature chronicles both. I hope you enjoy looking around! Please leave me a comment and tell me what you think.
