Friday Five 5-31-2019

05.31.2019 by Tana Henry //

Pearl Lake Scuba Diving
Mike with a couple of fish while scuba diving Pearl Lake. You can read more about our experience there here.

This is the thirty-eighth installment in my sorta weekly series, called the Friday Five. In this series, I’ll tell you about five random things that I love, whether they be books, travel, music, movies…or whatever. So without further ado, 5-31-2019’s Friday Five!

1–Downton Abbey. The new trailer for the Downton Abbey movie is out, and it looks great! I can’t wait to see the movie!

2–Budapest. Budapest is definitely on my to-visit list thanks in part to these two posts from Our Escape Clause (here and here), and this one from National Geographic. Hopefully I’ll find a great flight deal there someday!

3–Ride On King Jesus. I just love this video from the Proclamation Gospel Choir. It’s inspiring and

4–Verizon Travel Pass. I read this article about the Verizon Travel Pass, and didn’t even know that such a think existed. This could be very useful to us.

5–Old Town Road. Guys, this song is awesome and definitely gets stuck in my head. But…did you know that there’s a movie?! With Chris Rock. It’s awesome. Check it out here!

Friday Five 9-14-2018

09.14.2018 by Tana Henry //

After quite a LONG hiatus, this is the thirty-sixth installment in my sorta weekly series, called the Friday Five. In this series, I’ll tell you about five random things that I love, whether they be books, travel, music, movies…or whatever. So without further ado, 9-14-2018’s Friday Five!

1–Key West. Mike and I are going to Key West in November, so I was quite pleased to see this guide to frugal activities in Key West. I’m sure we’ll take part in a few of these when we visit.

2–Florida Scuba Diving. And for the trip to Key West, as well as for future trips to Florida, I might find this post from Alex in Wanderland helpful.

3–A gospel choir. This video from the Proclamation Gospel Choir at Olivet Nazarene University gave me goosebumps, and I’ve watched it several times. I hope you’ll give it a watch/listen.

4–The moon. I’m an astronomy buff, and have been since childhood. I found this video of the full rotation of the moon to be riveting. And unless my travel dreams come true and I get to go into space, this is the closest that I’ll ever come to seeing the moon from anywhere but terra firma.

5–Skating on Thin Ice. I wish it weren’t true, but fall is here and winter is around the corner. This video from National Geographic is beautiful, and shows that winter isn’t all bad.

Friday Five 7-22-2016

07.22.2016 by Tana Henry //

Fish BonaireThis is the twelfth installment in my weekly series, called the Friday Five. In this series, I’ll tell you about five random things that I love, whether they be books, travel, music, movies…or whatever. So without further ado, 7-22-2016’s Friday Five!

1–Iowa City and a girls weekend. I’m on the road to Iowa City to get together with some of my college sorority sisters. I’m super excited, as these girls are so much fun, mean so much to me, and because it’s been WAY too long since we last got together. So pumped!

2–Mackinaw/Mackinac. As soon as I get back from a girls weekend, I’m headed to northern Michigan to meet up with dive friends. Mike is diving some wrecks in the Straights of Mackinaw, while I’m playing tourist, and relaxing. So excited for this as well!

3–Marine Life. So lots of people I know have kids (or are kids at heart), and are super pumped about Finding Dory. I want to see it too. But it’s interesting to me to know that movies like Finding Dory, or its predecessor, Finding Nemo have an effect on marine wildlife populations. You can check out the story at Nat Geo.

4–Nebraska. I live in Nebraska, and have driven past this incredible building on the interstate numerous times. I’ve always wondered what in the heck it is. Turns out, it’s a chapel, or a shrine, or whatever. So gorgeous! I guess I’ll have to stop and see it for myself one of these days.

5–What to Read When The World is Falling Apart. I’ve been struggling lately, with burnout and lack of compassion at work, with the poor political options, with shootings of police officers, with the world, and most recently with the tragic death of a young cousin who just graduated from college. So this list from Modern Mrs. Darcy comes at a great time. Some of them I’ve read and they’ve been pick-me-ups. Some I’ve read and they’ve captured the mood of sadness. And some I’ve not read or heard of before. Perhaps this list will pull me out of my book slump, and my slump in general too. And if you’re feeling a bit blue like me, perhaps it can help you too.

My name is Tana, and I am an attorney in South-Central Nebraska. I'm married to a great guy, named Mike, and have a dog named Emmy and a cat named Scout. I read as much as possible, and travel any chance I get. Luggage and Literature chronicles both. I hope you enjoy looking around! Please leave me a comment and tell me what you think.
